Hi,

I still have problems....could you post an example of what the connection strings should look like and what location they should be in ( for DNN431). I know my server id will be different etc, but it might help me.

This is the section from the original web.config file containing all the references to connection strings.. that ships with DNN431

<!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005 Express -->
    <add
      name="SiteSqlServer"
      connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;"
      providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005
    <add
      name="SiteSqlServer"
      connectionString="Server=(local);Database=DotNetNuke;uid=;pwd=;"
      providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
   -->
  </connectionStrings>
  <appSettings>
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005 Express - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules   -->
    <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;"/>
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005 - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules
    <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=(local);Database=DotNetNuke;uid=;pwd=;"/>
    -->

I am replacing these with the following lines of code

<add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Server=sql343.xxxx.com;Database=dnn402dbase;uid=xxxx;pwd=xxxx" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
  </connectionStrings>
  <appSettings>
    <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=sql343.xxxx.com;Database=dnn402dbase;uid=xxxx;pwd=xxxx" />

Does this look correct?
