Who coordinates management/staffing of the extension projects?

there is no coordination, it's decentralized to the project team(s) i.e. they're completely independent, we just expose their data through the extensions feed. In a few special case, where modules were once part of the core, we maintain forums for them such as this, but at the end of the day we have no control over whether Mitchel continues on the documents module (after all it's code he does for free). In opensource terms what will happen if a module gets stagnant is that either it gets no updates, or someone new takes over control of the project, or someone "forks" it and then can do whatever development they want/form a new team. I hope one of those happens as I find the documents module useful (indeed if I was still developing sites for customers I'd probably have forked it myself by now)

Cathal, Thanks for emailing him.

Your comments then raise the question: how does "...someone new take(s) over control of the project"?  Not trying to get rid of Mitch, just trying to understand how the extension projects are coordinated in the community.
