More "fun" with trying to install DNN. My frustration is pretty is well documented here. Although I haven't been focused on it 100%, I never did get a basic installation with either the "Standard Process" or Web Matrix. Very frustrating and I remain confused why DNN doesn't make installation a bigger priority (as WordPress seem to have done). I am sure many folks have just walked away, without reporting issues here.
I don't have that choice. So, next up is my attempt to install on Windows Server 2012. Again, I am intentionally taking a very simple approach - a clean WS 2012 installation, with the web service role installed. And once again I hit a problem.
I follow the instructions here: http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/Page/.... I have SQL Server 2012 installed and going with an "attached database" approach. I run through the steps and when I get to Step 15 (navigate to http://localhost/dotnetnuke) I receive the following error:
HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error
The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid.
This configuration section cannot be used at this path. This happens when the section is locked at a parent level. Locking is either by default (overrideModeDefault="Deny"), or set explicitly by a location tag with overrideMode="Deny" or the legacy allowOverride="false".
To reiterate, I have WS 2012 installed, with .Net Framework 4.5, SQL Server Express 2012 and ASP.Net installed. I then followed the instructions on the aforementioned page.
I simply want to get a basic, plain vanilla DNN installation. It shouldn't be this hard.
Thoughts?
Thanks.
