I reinstalled my site four times, mostly to clear up errors in creating a new a new parent site from my existing site install. I encountered all sorts of other errors I had to whine about here and with my web hosts support team. Now, I get to a clean install of the latest version, try to create a second site and get the following error:

Access to the path 'D:\inetpub\dotcomdominion\Portals\_default\Default Website.template.en-US.resx' is denied.

It does seem to create the second site on the list, without the site alias I set,  but when I click the pencil to edit that site I get the following error:

A critical error has occurred. Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Any help with this would be much appreciated.

please make sure that anonymous users and the user associated with the application pool have write permissions in file System for the portals folder.

I keep going around and around with my web host, Newtek. They insist they have given me permissions, but then tell me they didn't add delete permissions, etc etc. We have very limited access to anything IIS.

I have created my second parent portal three times, and each time, I get the following error:

Error configuring Child websiteAccess to the path 'D:\inetpub\dotcomdominion\Portals\4\' is denied. at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath) at System.IO.Directory.InternalCreateDirectory(String fullPath, String path, Object dirSecurityObj, Boolean checkHost) at System.IO.Directory.InternalCreateDirectoryHelper(String path, Boolean checkHost) at DotNetNuke.Entities.Portals.PortalController.CreatePortal(String portalName, Int32 adminUserId, String description, String keyWords, PortalTemplateInfo template, String homeDirectory, String portalAlias, String serverPath, String childPath, Boolean isChildPortal)

I had chosen to create a parent, not a child, so I have no idea why this error doesn't make that distinction. At any rate, any help would be appreciated.  I have rarely used the feature that creates a second portal, but in the past it always seemed to work flawlessly. Thanks for you help!

The ASP.NET account needs add, edit and delete permission for all files in the DNN directory and all subfolders, sorry.
