You may get all upgrade (and other) packages from http://dotnetnuke.codeplex.com/releas..., select desired version in the box on the right and the upgrade package on the left.
to perform the upgrade, start with full backup of all files and the database.
unblock downloaded zip package by entering file properties in file manager and click "unblock" at the bottom of first tab (if appearing).
unzip all files hierarchical, overwrite existing files in your DNN install folder with it.
Browse your site and the upgrade wizard will show up.
If it completes without errors, you are fine :)

Have fun using DNN.

Sebastian Leupold

Thank you greatly Sebastian

From looking at CodePlex then it looks as if 6.2.9 is latest 6.x.

I assume there is no need to install the versions in between from 2.6.1 onwards (?)

For anyone's interest, upgrading from DNN 6.2

So far I have :

  • Backed up and created a new SQL database 'DotNetNuke_Staging'
  • Created a new Staging website on port 8882
  • Copied all files from the old site to new site
  • Modified web.config to point to staging database
  • Set  <add key="UsePortNumber" value="false" />
  • (above I think is a 6.2 bug as you would expect the setting to be true, still I discovered this from a thread here)
  • Messed about with directory permissions on the site folder - notably adding permissions for IIS_IUSRS then eventually resorted to read/execute to Everyone - before doing this the CSS was not working at all

The staging site in running fine now on port 8882 - whoop!!

Ok, now I am going to back up this staging site (so I can get back to this healthy state) - then I am going to attempt upgrade to 6.2.9 from 6.2.1 on the staging site.

If you think I have missed anything please SCREAM at me now!

:)
