With a new site I get a 404 when lauching http://site name/dotnetnuke

I attempted to migrate and existing site and got the below error

Compilation Error

Server Error in '/' Application.

Compilation Error

Description: An error occurred during the compilation of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific error details and modify your source code appropriately.

Compiler Error Message: BC30560: 'ScriptServiceAttribute' is ambiguous in the namespace 'System.Web.Script.Services'.

Source Error:

Source File: \IWebFileManager.vb    Line: 17

I would ignore your IWebFileManager.vb error as a potential red herring -for a start the issue is with a 3rd party component (IWeb) and not DNN - based on the exception I would guess this is a module that works under .net 2.0/3.5sp1 but not .net 4.0/4.5.

Thanks for all the replies.  Moving the installation to the root folder fixed it.  Any ideas on why this is needed?  I am running the same setup on a Server 2008 R2 box and have my DNN sites hosted outside of the inedpub\www directory and they are functioning without any problems.

Even without using that setup I'm quite certain it's not needed. It will (near certain) be something to do with IIS config or your portal alias settings.

Best wishes,
