Hi,

I'm trying to install DNN through the web platform installer 4.6. I have installed SQL Server and created a blank "DotNetNuke" database.

When I execute the platform installer "dotnetnuke_iis.exe", though, I get stuck at the first step, when the program asks "what kind of database would you liek to use" (actually, it reads "¿Qué tipo de base de datos le gustaría usar?", in Spanish). The is a combo box with only one option to choose from: "SQL Server (Not installed)".

There's no way... I can't get passed this step. Could anyone please help?

Tkanks in advance!

im not sure what dotnetnuke_iis.exe is, it's not something I ever use to install DNN. I'd recommend using a normal install in IIS - see http://www.dnnsoftware.com/videos for some examples

Thank you very much.

I followed the steps set forward in the videos, and I went through the two first steps no problem: "Installation Part 1 - File System Configuration" and "Installation Part 2 - Web Server Configuration". However, when I got to  "Installation Part 3 - Database Configuration", I couldn't follow the tutorial.

In the video, I am told to create a new SQL Server login with Windows Authentication for the user "IIS Apppool\dnndev.me". When I type "iis apppool\dnndev.me" in the user name search textbox and I press the search button, the system does find that name and changes it to only "dnndev.me". When I get back to the new user form we were filling, the user name now displays "RUBENS\dnndev.me", where "RUBENS" is the computer name. When, agter setting the permissions, I finally click "OK", I get the an error that says thes user or group "RUBENS\dnndev.me" cannot be found (Error 15401).

Does that make any sense, considering the "IIS Apppool\dnndev.me" user was found at first?

Do you know any solution or work around that could help me install DNN?

I am using Windows 8.1.

Thank you!

Hey cathal - dotnetnuke_iis.exe - is the file DNN tells everyone to download

On the plaform download page - http://www.dnnsoftware.com/Community/Download

When you click on the big blue DOWNLOAD DNN PLATFORM button - its the file that the button downloads

http://www.microsoft.com/web/gallery/install.aspx?appid=dotnetnuke_iis

- - -

If thats NOT the preferred standard install method for DNN then people are going to be getting pretty confused - maybe its time to STOP recommending the microsoft installer tool if thats the case ???

Westa
