What's the purpose and UI design decision of the semi-transparency (dimming) the main content in Edit Page mode? I, like some others, find it annoying and serves no purpose.

To turn it off:

Thanks for the workaround - works great :)

I like the dimming feature but it's always nice to be able to switch it off if you don't need it.

If there are two camps for this little feature, I suggest to add an on/off option. I am still trying to understand why it was implemented.

I think it's a good idea.  When you have a lot of modules on the page it's always good to automatically bring areas you are working with into focus.  However, there are a lot of people that find that feature very frustrating.

I think it just needs to evolve a bit.  If there is only one module on the page then the dimming should be disabled.  If there are multiple modules on the page then allow the dim to engage but only if you mouse into another module.  It might also be a good idea to track the rate of mouse movement before engaging so that you don't switch the dim between content areas when the user is just moving the mouse up to the DNN Control panel or to a skin object that is on the page for development.

I think that would improve the feature so that it isn't frustrating for people.

I find the bigger annoyance with edit mode being that the modules sizes/positions change slightly. This happens because of the header bar (which I think is a relatively minor problem), and that they seem to lose side padding and stuff. That may reflect something with my skin. But, I would think it would be important to keep "edit" looking as close to "view" mode as possible.
