Hi Sebastian,

In one of your post (http://www.dnnsoftware.com/forums/forumid/78/threadid/27731/scope/posts/threadpage/9) you mentioned  "Precompilation is not supported in DNN 5.1, but the first step is taken. It may take until DNN 6.0, until the current constants can be dropped and sites be precompiled.". Is there any specific reason it is not made available?

AFAIK, it has not been a priority for the developer team since.

If you site s hacked there are any number of areas that are going to be of bigger problems that someone changing a .cs file.
Your database would be wide open as well - and if they had worked out how to HACK your hosting they could simply copy over a new dll.
The DNN source is available to anyone.
Whats more you could do just as much damage in the aspx file as the aspx,cs file - or for that mater by editing the skin or any number of other
methods.
Its frankly a moot point - and you are wasting you time getting worked up over it - this is the way that DNN works - just accept that and move on.
Simply put - you would be better spending your time ensuring noone can HACK your server.

Cathal,

Thanks for the posts.  Never could find this quickly when I was trying to get clean builds.  Figured out I could just ignore the error and did.

Wes' comments are accurate enough but insensitive, so thanks for your patience.  I can see his point -- don't say something's an error when it's not.  But then again, it comes up in Build Errors, so developers not savvy with dynamic recompile will say they're looking at an error.

Just entering an opinion at this point on a several year old post but it applies presently -- if an error is allowed to get through and someone is unfamiliar with it, they're going to post questions.  So why let the error slip in the first place?  Or if it's known to be innocuous, say so and make that explanation easy to find.

Anyhow, DNN 8 is out now, right? :)

Thanks,

Mike Durthaler
