Hi,

I just started working on a new DNN based website and today I downloaded the latest DNN version, installed it on a staging server and started configuring it.

The first thing I did was to add a new language (ro-RO) from http://localhost/site/Admin/Languages.aspx. Piece of cake.

Since the machine I installed the site on is not used for developement, I wanted to access the site from my own computer (in the same network) and, knowing about the "Auto add site alias" feature, I just went ahead and accessed the site with http://servername/site/Home.aspx . Nothing unusual here.

But then, when I tried changing the laguage to ro-RO by clicking the corresponding flag icon, I got redirected to http://localhost/site/ro-RO/Home.aspx .

Of course, I logged on the staging server again to check the portal aliases and found the next list of aliases:

  • localhost/site
  • localhost/site/en-us   with the Language field set to "en-US"
  • localhost/site/ro-ro   with the Language field set to "ro-RO"
  • servername/site

Then I thought "Ok, I just need to manually add two other aliases." and ended up with the next list of aliases:

  • localhost/site
  • localhost/site/en-us   with the Language field set to "en-US"
  • localhost/site/ro-ro   with the Language field set to "ro-RO"
  • servername/site
  • servername/site/en-us   with the Language field set to "en-US"
  • servername/site/ro-ro   with the Language field set to "ro-RO"

This did not change anything. When accessing the site from another machine through http://servername/site/... every link is set to http://localhost/site/...

What can I do to fix this?

Thank you,

Leif

if any of the aliases are set to be Primary, and you enabled Redirect, a Redirect will happen and the associated language be used.
you should set Primary per language for the alias you prefer.

Hi,

I don't quite understand what you mean. Right now I'm using Canonical mapping mode. The first three aliases (those starting with "localhost") were automatically set to be primary.

I tried running with no primary alias altogether and, again, nothing changed.

Then, I tried setting all the aliases starting with "servername" as primary. This only transformed the problem: now I can access the site with servername/sitename from the network but if I go on the local machine and access localhost/sitename, all the links redirect to severname/sitename.

That's not what I'm trying to achieve. I want to be able to browse my site from both the local machine and the network. This is something that worked without any problems on earlier versions of DNN (5.6.x). I'm using 07.02.01 (367).

Please, help me configure this installation properly.

Thank you,

Leif Lazar

AFAIK using both names is not supported with Advanced URLs

I too have problems getting multi-language working, but only for mobile / pads. The site is live at:

www.granuldisk.com

When you visit from a computer all languages work as expected. But from the mobile I get directed to the german site and get unexpected behavior when clicking on flags for any other language.

How can this be different from the desktop version?

Pontus :)
