Hello,

I use the Social Module Group to allow users to share links, images etc ...

It is a little sketchy but it is enough for my needs.

The only problem: I can not find where we manage notifications about new posts.

How to users receive an email notification when adding a message in their group and it can remove this automatic notification?

thank you

you can configure whether notifications or messages are emailed and on what frequency via the communications tab of your profile - see http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/page/...

that's expected behaviour, you only receive notifications for items directed to you -this is the same as other social networks e.g. you don't receive an email for every post of your facebook wall. It is possible to build in subscription capabilities (see http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/page/... ), and I know some modules such as evoq wiki have used this, but I don't believe theres any plan to add a subscription for the journal (mainly as people would receive huge amounts of notification emails (or less emails but they would contain tons of content)

I'm really disappointed to discover this.  I think this is a major miss in the social groups module.

If you choose to be a part of a specific social group you should not have to go to that group page to see if there has been any recent activity.  I think Cathal you are comparing a group that would be created on Facebook to a group that would be created on a platform like DNN.  On Facebook, typical users are looking at their news feed throughout the day. It aggregates posts from all the things you're interested in. It wouldn't be necessary to receive email notifications in that case.  However, even then Facebook allows you to receive email notifications for groups you're in.

I think the option for email notifications for social groups should be part of the core.  In my opinion the social group module is worthless without it.
