I'm building a skin in VS 2013 express for web as an ascx page. When I comment this out

<!--<div id="ContentPane" runat="server"></div>-->

DNN ignores it. I get this error when loading the page with the new skin. Could Not Load Skin: /Portals/_default/Skins/bootstrap3/default.ascx, Error: The ID 'ContentPane' is already used by another contr



So simply removing the div fixes the problem. I'm curious as to why the comment out is being ignored.

This is my first time trying to create a skin. First time working wit VS express for web. First time working with ascx pages. I usuall am a html/dreamweaver kind of guy. Just trying to learn new stuff..

please make sure, there is only a single div or td called "ContentPane" with runat="Server"

Asp.net also processes controls inside comments.

 That way you can also create dynamic comments ( not used a lot but it's possible)

Because you cannot have two controls with the same I'd you get an error. Try changing the Id and it should work. 

 Or you could also remove the run at= server..
