Executing .EXE from a Module

I'm attempting to run a .EXE on the server (currently testing on local machine) after a user clicks a button. I'm trying to run cmd.exe with a parameter passed in to create an empty text file for test purposes at this time. However, even though the module doesn't crash my error log I read out to says there's an access denied error and I'm wondering what I have to do to fix this.

There are security issues with this but I think it can still be done if you can get the user calling the exe the proper rights on the server.

Check the IUSR, apppool and/or aspnet account and make sure they have elevated permissions on the server. Some server admins may not be willing to allow it.

If you can't get it done, you may want to consider converting it to code within your module (if possible).

That may not be viable, because we're wanting to run this for every user who logs onto the site. Putting it into the code might be the only option.

Mark is talking about the Windows user being used (configured in extended settings of IIS Application Pool), not DNN user

Sebastian is cCorrect. I'm referring to a user account caling the exe. Like I said, server admins may not be comfortable allowing exe's to run on the server.

Unless you're doing something very unique that must be done in the exe, I'd convert it to a module and avoid the exe.
