there is no built in way in DNN (there is in Evoq Content/Social). The most common way to do it in DNN is to have a 3rd party that does the authentication and to plug in a custom authentication provider into all the sites that uses that-http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/page/... is worth a read

Hi.  I'm going to qualify my post by stating that I have NOT used this feature nor the module listed here. So take it for what it's worth.

I believe that the feature that allows you to have a single account shared among multiple portals in a single DNN installation is called "SiteGroups".   This feature is not available in the community edition (CE) of DNN.  That said, it appears that the table structure and requisite subroutines for SiteGroups indeed exist "under the hood" in DNN CE, but it lacks the UI component to access the SiteGroups feature.

Yesterday, I just stumbled across an open source module at CodePlex that is supposed to give you the SiteGroups UI for DNN CE called SiteGroup Editor for the DNN Platform.  Here it is:  https://dnnportalgroups.codeplex.com/

I have not tried this module, but the developers that built it are well known and have been active in the DNN community for years.  If it were me, I wouldn't hesitate to give this module a go.
