I agree with Timo, of course you can do a lot with CSS but this is not the best practice.

DNN is multiportal so you can have a lot different sites with different designs and layout specifications in one DNN instance.

90% of all third party modules meet this needs by providing templates html/xslt

To make DNN a real multiportal CMS all functionality and core modules should based on Templates, CSS and Tokens.

Ventrian Newsarticles is a good example of this principle. We use this module for 10 years now a we always managed to meet the requirements of the customer, because of the flexibility based on Templates, CSS and Tokens.

The need for templates and flexibility is essential when you want to build good responsive websites.

So there's no time to waste.... Get rid of the tables and make flexible responsive templates....

Sorry for the misunderstanding - the PS in my post above was meant as a joke (admiring Timo's knowledge on CSS, which is amazing!)

Sure, I think templates are the (better) way, and therefore I wrote to post the idea to the Community Voice section. Please post the link to your idea here, so we can support it - oops, you were quicker ;-)

Best wishes
Michael

I like the ideas discussed here and Willem did the right thing by consolidating them into community voice. Got 3 votes from myself :). I happened to be the initial architect of the new Search (7.1) and would love to have more feedback.
