Upon update of DNN 7.2.2 to 7.3 I got ff. error due to which my site is inaccessible:

There's a mention of Active Forums in it so I'm posting on ActiveForums Codeplex issues panel too.
The Polish error description boils down to "Value cannot be null" and "An unhandled exception...."

The PortalAlias mention in the error description brought me here.

Any insight would be appreciated.

For the time being I'll revert to my site's backup waiting for the DNN and AF staff to track down the source of problems.

there appears to be a breaking change in DNN 7.3 which will hopefully be fixed in 7.3.1

I am currently investigating this issue.

The code in this area was refactored, but I cannot understand why this issue is occurring at the moment.

We did not see it in any of our automated or manual testing.

Interestingly, it is not only myself who has this issue. While browsing the 7.3 upgrade reviews I spotted almost exactly the same error description to mine.

The link is to a post by CreativeAvatar.

Either both of us have the same configuration (including ActiveForums) or there's something else involved here.

To boot, I upgraded my dev DNN installation from 7.2.2 to 7.3 and experienced no problems. But that instance doesn't have so many modules installed in. Yet it's on the same server so the .NET Framework, ASP.NET and server configs are identical.

Hope this will help to shed some light during the investigation.

This is very disappointing. I was really looking forward to upgrading to DNN 7.3 - I love all the performance improvement. I really don't want to wait weeks for a 7.3.1 patch. Perhaps I'll build from the source when it is fixed.

I also had the same problem. Images won't load. URL Master 2.8.1 won't work. This is my error:

MissingMethodException: Method not found: 'DotNetNuke.Entities.Portals.PortalAliasCollection DotNetNuke.Entities.Portals.PortalAliasController.GetPortalAliases()'.]
UrlMapper.RequestHandler.ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) +0
System.Web.CallHandlerExecutionStep.System.Web.HttpApplication.IExecutionStep.Execute() +913
System.Web.HttpApplication.ExecuteStep(IExecutionStep step, Boolean& completedSynchronously) +165

It seems that the refactor of the PortalAliasController didn't include a way to support older modules. Specifically, the reference to the new controller singleton.
