Hi.  I might be overlooking something silly, but I have a DNN 7.2.1 installation, and when I click the "Force Password Change" button when viewing a user's profile, the user is NOT forced to change their password when they next login.

Just to be sure, I double-checked the user's record in the Users table, and yes, the "UpdatePassword" column was set to 1.  I spent quite a bit of time exploring the site configuration, but I don't see what's causing the issue.

Conversely, I have a DNN 7.0.6 installation where the "Force Password Change" button works as expected, and the user is forced to change their password the next time that they login.

OK, what am I overlooking?  I know that there were significant changes to the password logic between 7.0.6 and 7.2.1.  Is there another setting that I need to verify?

there were lots of password related changes, but I don't believe that particular area was touched. That said, some parts work differently (and in 1 case were broken) by the change from encrypted to hashed passwords, so perhaps that is what's been seen here - please log it to support.dnnsoftware.com so we can investigate.

there might have been further changes in DNN 7.2.2 or 7.3.0, you may test, how an upgraded site reacts.

Hello Van;

This works in my 7.2.1 Platform site.

I invoke "Force Password Change" in the users Profile (Manage Users Module) while logged in as HOST

The next time that user logs in they're presented with the "Update your password before continuing" pop up

Have you disable pop ups?

Are you using a 3rd party user management or log in module on your 7.2.1 site?

Hi, guys!  Thanks for the great input!

This 7.2.1 installation began its life as DNN 6.x and has been upgraded several times.  Consequently, it's passwords are still encrypted by default.  Although, I forced the default format to hashed for a brief period for some experiments, but then I changed it back to encrypted.

I was going to upgrade to 7.2.2 if nothing else panned out.

Ken, you brought up an excellent point.  I had forgotten that this site uses the Dynamic Login module from Data Springs.  That just may be the variable that's causing the issue.  I should have thought of that.

Unfortunately, I only get time to work on this particular installation on the weekends.  So I'll check it out at the end of the week, and I'll report back.
