Also be sure you have set both Connection strings in the web.config file!

Parallels Helm has always been a windows application which Parallels purchased from web host automation.

Have already created the udl file and have no issues with connecting to any database with the udl file. This was the first thing I tried when I received the connection error.

I curious to see how this gets resolved as I am having pretty much the same issue. Our current production site is running 6.2.5 on a Server 2008 Web Edition and using SQL 2005 on a separate server. We are getting ready to retire the 2005 server and also upgrade the website to 7.3x so I am starting the first phase of moving the DB to the new dedicated SQL 2012 server. The database has been restored to the new 2012 server, the database user has been linked to the proper SQL Server login account and the connection strings updated, but it won't connect. I get the old error --> Cannot open database "DNN_xxx" requested by the login. Login failed for user 'xxxxx'.

I can connect to it via ODBC and the udl connection works perfectly. The database login permissions are identical to those on the SQL 2005 server. I've been beating my head on this one all day.

Did you make sure to have tcp/ip protocol enabled for both, sql server and client?

Are you using exact same credentials? If using integratedSecurity, please double ensure you granted login permission for the user account specified in advanced settings of the IIS Application Pool being used.

Sebastian,

I have checked and double checked the protocol and everything is enabled. This web server has been up and running for over a year with no connection issues. Like I said in earlier post the DNN web sites already on the server have no issues with the connection. Just any new sites or if I try to move a DNN site to this server.
