David, sth must be different - if it is not the SQL Server configuration, it must be your IIS web site setup. Check the App Pool Identity and it's permission as well as the Login being used. There MUST be the difference.

I figured out my problem!!!

My DNN user did not have EXEC privileges so it could not run any stored procedures. Come to find out when I restored my SQL 2005 DNN database to the new SQL 2012 server, I relinked the orphaned database user account to the login account, but I ASSUMED that the user would have the same privileges as on SQL 2005. NOT SO! You have to specifically grant EXEC privileges to the user.

All is well again!

Dave

Dave, the user should have dbowner privilege - unless you are using a dedicated upgrade connection string - otherwise future extension installs and upgrades might fail.

Not sure what my issue is but DNN 7.3 will not connect to the database but I can install DNN 6 then upgrade to 7.3 with no connection issues.

it might be one of the significant issues in 7.3.0, which will be fixed in 7.3.0 - but batch install should work nonetheless - after you adjusted both connection strings - by browsing /install/install.aspx?mode=install
