Hi,

I have a problem with the DNNFriendlyUrl provider. When it is set to "advanced", all modal popups (edit controls) return the 404 page in the popup. When it is set to "humanfriendly", they work. However, in "humanfriendly" mode, we don't get our custom URLs.

Our SEO consultant is adamant that the custom URLs must be used, so "humanfriendly" is not an option for us. However, we now have the problem where modal popups all 404. This means the "Ask a Question" module we wrote will 404 as well.

In "humanfriendly" mode, the pop has this format: /Home/tabid/56/ctl/Ask/mid/435/Default.aspx?popUp=true

In "advanced" mode, the popup has this format: //ctl/Ask/mid/435?popUp=true

Does anyone have any pointers on where I can look for the cause of the problem?

I have confirmed that Microsoft KB980368 is not the problem, as it reports the hotfix is not applicable to our setup.

Additional information:

The above only happens when I am logged in to the site. If I am not logged in, our "Ask a Question" module goes to "/DesktopModules/AskAQuestion/#" and the entire page 403's.

what server are you running on  -the reason I ask is that if the hotfix is reporting it is not applicable that suggests you are using Windows 2003 (IIS6) which is not supported since dnn 7.0

Hi,

Server is Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Service Pack 1 64-bit. IIS is version 7.5.

I have just double-checked I downloaded the correct version for my server. It still reports the update is not applicable. I believe this update was included in a later IIS update, as most of our IIS files are a later date/version than the ones included in the update. So, I assume it really is not applicable.

So, now I'm back to square one. Any other suggestions?

is it localized to the modal popup's or can other pages open with extensionless urls e.g. do mysite.com/login or mysite.com/home work, or do you have to do mysite.com/login.aspx or mysite.com/home.aspx ?
