Hi I'm wondering if there is a way to synchronize the DNN install between 2 sites, the issue we have is that sometimes updates are done to the live site (simple text image edits) and not passed through to the dev site. Is there a way to streamline this process? We obviously don't want to have to do the edits twice or lose any edits.

Or if anybody knows of a module that can help with this that would be great.

unfortunately, changes are widely spread amongst many tables (including module specific ones), so it will be hard to create a module covering it.
You might considering a database comparison tool, e.g. from Redgate, but you will need to exclude a few tables (like logs and user generated input)

Thanks Sebastian,

Is there anywhere I can find out the exact list of which tables I should not include in these comparisons?

The usual process here is from time to time to take a copy of the entire live site, files, database, the works. Restore it over the dev site, restore the db over the dev one and fix the connection string to point to the dev db.

There are often a few other things to fix up as well. For example you don't want email from the dev site going to real live addresses.

Ok thanks, it looks like Redgate is the simplest and safest way to go about this.
