Hi

I've just spent the morning precompiling my 4.3.1 app and trying to get it working on another server. Once I did this Free Text box started failing, log view came up with error message etc. Other weird stuff was going on. So I guess there were files missing? The error messages didn't seem particularly friendly anyway (no give aways at all).

In the end I gave up and copied the full source across (didn't bother precomiling), it's on a local intranet at the moment so not too worried about security. It worked this way but I will need to precompile when I put these sites on the internet.

PLEASE - Is there anyway you can test the source version and make sure you can precomple it, distribute it to a server, have all the files there and DNN working properly? Or as a workaround can you give us instructions on what to do after precompilation?

I'm a big supporter of the project... thankyou for everything...

Cheers

Alex

p.s. I notice 4.3.2 is out. Is there anyway online we can look at what has changed from the 4.3.1 release to the 4.3.2 release? How does one upgrade the source version (can't see anything in DNN install guide - once again thanks...

Why not just use the install version?  Then on your local dev box, have the source version or starter kit version where you can tweak and develop from there.  If you're not making mods to the core, why bother with the source version for deployment - you don't need to precompile, but if your site is not visited frequently, it will suffer from having to restart an recompile each time a new visit hits between down time.

Of course, if this is just for the experience - then that makes sense, but expect some pain since all 4.3 releases so far have been candidates, not final.  Their squishing the last moths flying in the tubes.

I really need to precompile and distribute from the source (I do the odd tweak now and then). It was just a request for the final release that's all. I experienced similar issues with the last proper release (folders needed renaming before precomilation) and I just wondered if the software was ever tested using this sceranio.

I'm just asking for an easier ride that's all!
But then in the world of development there really is no such thing... so I do understand and respect the comments.

Cheers
