Further digging around in the database I have found that the databse that errors out has no value set in Default Value For Binding on the rows that throw the error. In a clean install of the same version these rows have a default value set, if I copy the default value over the error stops occurring.

For example the table Tabs has a column [LEVEL] which should have a default value of ((0)) but in the damaged site this is blank.

It looks like restore did not enable default constraints.

I have been working on one site to see how far I can get. It was a 6.2.3 version. I managed to get it working by going through and adding the default values back in. I then managed to get it upgraded to 7.0.6 then 7.1.2 but can't get any further as all the keys are gone in the dbo.users table.

I'm wondering now if the databases were restored incorrectly by the host at some point recently without constraints as you say Sebastian. Does this sound like something that could have happened?

Indeed all 8 databases are missing Keys, Constraints, Triggers, Indexes and Statistics. I'd love to know how that's possible?

That sounds like they only restored tables with data, but w/o any logic around. Are functions, views and procedures in place?
