I have experience with drupal but not DNN. I am interested in seeing if DNN has a module or the ability to have a page that each individual user with an account on my dnn site can arrange the modules on their home page. Sort of like a widget system where users can drag modules around or hide them if they choose. However, as the admin, i'd like to limit which modules they can have access to and move.

In drupal, there is a module called "homebox" that allows for this.

I remember a 3rd party module existing, but AFAIK it is no longer available. Did you already check out http://store.dnnsoftware.com?

what kind of content do you expect to be positioned on the user page - more than just in a HTML module?

The idea is to create my own modules using visual studio 2012. Also some article type modules. Then the admin can choose what modules the users can see and then the user will be able to drag and drop the modules to different panes on their "homepage"
