I have an old site using DNN6.  I noticed that at some point the processor used by this site goes up, practically stalling the server.  I noticed that in the USERS folder I see random sub-folders being created.

Is this sub-folders creation normal and what could I do for this and also for seeing why the spike in processes usage?

Each user account get's a few subfolders in the file system. Look and see if you have a bunch of suspicious user accounts created recently. There is a bot creating bogus registrations out there.

whenever a user is logging in for the first time, a Folder is created inside a subfolder of /Portals/[PortalId]/Users.

Thanks both.
Seems it is a bot! 166K users !!! Now I set Captcha and will delete the extra records.

Pity there are too many people out there who instead of working waste lots of time for others. There should be some international organisations which find and sues these idiots as they are costing the industry millions!!

Evan,
You may also need to create a custom user profile attribute and make that required for registration.
The spammers are also finding ways to get past Captcha.
