DNN 3.2.2 Module Install successful. But when going to usersettings and i.e. trying to set a checkbox under the new treeview after clicking save I get the permanent error:

My German is rusty at best but that looks like the "Object Reference NOt Set To An Instance of An Object" error. Based on where it is, it is trying to add a group to a specific Treeview control. Unless I can recreate the issue, I am not sure what the problem really is here.

Not that rusty! You got it right!
The strange thing is, the private settings of a user get kind of corrupted if he clicks to subscribe to a forum and saves this setting. After that the user account is cannot change private settings, alias, etc. any more.

Any help would be appreciated, because we're running an intranetportal und the forums are quite important.
Or is it possible to downgrade the forums module somehow without loosing data?

Thanks in advance!

There is no downgrading. I am working on this fix right now though.
