I have an interesting problem I hope someone has some advice on.

The company I work for has a DNN portal made with an earlier version, several versions ago.  Now they created a new portal using 7.2.1.  However, they did not upgrade to this version from the old.  They just started fresh with the latest version.

Well....

Now they want to migrate the users from the old portal database to the new.  I am finding that this is not an easy task.  I was able to move the membership tables, the users and userrole, userportal tables.  They I moved the machine key to the new web.config.  So I can log in, but having all kinds of errors whenever I access certain areas of the applications.

My question is, how is the best way to approach this type of conversion?  Has anybody done this before?  Is there a script somewhere to move users over from one version to another?  Or maybe just a list of tables and objects that have to be moved over?

Any help appreciated.

My advice is don't even think about DIY solutions. Buy Peter Dobson's bulk user manager module. It's in the store.
