I am new to DNN and my first installation was to 4.3.  Emails didn't work and my Host blamed DNN bugs.  I upgraded to 4.3.1.  Still didn't work. Eventually my Host did get me running.   As I have looked for new modules I hear that there are still membership bugs and when I asked...it was recommended that I downgrade to the more stable 4.0.3 until 4.3.? is more stable and "Module Developers" can catch up.

After struggling to get this far I am hesitant to do a re-install and start over.

Is is possible to Downgrade and still keep my data.  I have no significant file uploads or threads to worry about.

Should I stick it out and wait for a version with more stable membership management?

Thanks in advance from a slow starter.

I would not use any 4.3 version for any production sites, it is still Release Candidate.  Just like any other Release candidate from other softward vendors, using it for production is not recommended.  Since it is a RC that means a final production release is getting closer.

If you need this for a site right away I would use 4.0.3 and you can at least be getting your content entered and your site designed.  You can then update to the production version of 4.3.?? when it is released.  If you do not need the site up and running right away you might consider just waiting for the produciton release of 4.3.??.  It all depends on how quickly you need the site up.  As far as downgrading, that cannot be done automatically and trying to do it manyually would probably cause more problems than it resolved.

Thank you for the clear, if painful, answer.   This was the latest version available from my web host so I just took it.  I now know better.

Any idea how long until the  4.3 production version will be released?  days, weeks, months?

Sorry, it is core policy that release date are not published.  All I can say is that since we have reached RC status a final release is getting closer.

Would that be possible to upgrade 4.3.x(candidates) to 4.x.x production release in the future?
