I am migrating a DNN Version 05.04.02 from OS Win 2007 Std 32 bit SQL 2007 to Win 2012 R2 32bit, IIS 8, SQL 2014 Express, app pool is v2.  On the new server it goes into MYDomain../Install/InstallWizard.aspx

Anyone have suggestion as to to why & a fix.

The problem is that DNN is not able to find the database.

You will need to edit web.config to change both connection strings to point to the new SQL Server and the new database, and using appropriate passwords.

I solved it

Solution from moving DNN sql 2005 db to DNN SQL 2014 Express.rtf

in Web.Config need connectionString="Server= to be connectionString="Data Source= 1st db entry

need value="Server= to be value="Data Source= 2nd db entry

I copied the DB strings from a working 2014 express, change db & it worked
