Sebastian.. I haven't tried these scripts yet. However if they do increase the performance and stability of DNN without side effects, why doesn't DNNSoftware incorporate them in DNN? What does it take to have them implement them?

Can these be applied safely in DNN 7.4 or are you planning to have a version for 7.4 soon?

Tony,
DNN Corp. seem to have a different focus in their work. I submitted around 150 of the changes, around 30 got incorporated, 20 rejected and the others - I don't know. I am focusing now to provide my improvements inside the scripts, reworking nearly all parts of the database.
The next version of TurboScripts will support DNN 7.4.0, improve results of GetUsersAdvancedSearch (used in Membership module) and improve handing of Foreign Keys. I am nearly done, but will need one or two more days for the final tests.

Cheers from Germany,
Sebastian Leupold

I just released a new version of Turbo scripts with the following features:
- Support for DNN 7.4.0 - please use modified 07.04.00.sqldataprovider file for upgrade
- Added sys_CreateForeignKey sproc to validate and re-create ForeignKey constraints.
- New enhanced and improved implementation for procedure GetUsersAdvancedSearch
- Full UniCode support within the script and all procedures
- Enhanced vw_Profile to return Names for Countries and Regions in DNN 7.3.4+
- Fixed an issue in tooling sproc RestoreForeignKeys
- Fix GetPortals from DNN 7.4.0, corrected version is used for previous DNN versions as well.

You may download it for free from https://dnnscript.codeplex.com

Tony,

For us to include them, they have to be submitted individually as pull requests so that we can analyze and test each change.  In the past we tried to do this in larger batches but we found that there were too many bugs introduced by the scripts and had to roll back the changes.  It is possible that the issues caused by the earlier scripts are no longer a problem in the current versions, but that is hard to assess.  At this point I would classify the Turbo Scripts as a fork because of the extensive changes they make to the database.

Joe,
thanks for your kind words - I myself wouldn't call TurboDNN a fork (i.e. a clone with improvements) - it is more like any other core Data Provider, but with the benefit of being compatible to all other 3rd party sql data providers. ATM it is script only, but I might need to add the DB interface as well, to further improve the scripts.
While the first versions were mainly focusing performance, the next level will be consistency and stability - using same datatypes for same data throughout the core, clean existing and entered data (e.g. not storing "-1" instead of Null in a referenced field to indicate there is no reference etc).

Cheers from Germany,
Sebastian Leupold
