I've been running along great with an internal website created with dotnetnuke. Then i thought I'd post the site externally live. I backup the database and restored it on the new site. And uploaded all the files using ftp. But I can't get the site to display.
I don't know if it's because I uploaded the files and didn't install dotnetnuke on the new server or if I'm not stating the portalalias correctly.

A few additional notes. The config file on the new server does have the correct (new) information and the default start file is default.aspx. Since the site doesn't come up I edited the portalalias through the remote desktop to the IP address but it doesn't work. I'm not sure how to list multiple addresses but have tried several. For instance the static pages do display. I've also tried to enter the ip address/default.aspx but I don't get a page displayed.

Where did I go wrong?

OK, so on the new server, you can access DNN internally (like http://localhost/dotnenuke), but when you use the external address (like http://www.mywebsite.com), it doesnt show, am I right?

The alias needs to be set like that: mysubdomain.mywebsite.com. If you set it like mysubdomain.mywebsite.com/, chances are that it's not going to work. If you set an IP address for an alias, you'll have to access your portal by typing the IP address in the address bar of your browser.
