I've just completed an update to 7.3.2.  After getting through the update I decided it was time to clean up all the spam users I had let get cluttered in the site.  Per other recommendations within the community from online searching I manually deleted the user folders under portals\0\Users\  However,, in File manager under Users it still shows all of the user folders/sub folders.  I executed a 'Sync this folder nad sub folders' from within file manager.  But it sits for just a short time and then pops up with a connection timeout. although I've increased all site timeouts in the web.config and the time is not close to the actual site timeout values I have set from what I can tell. 

 Any suggestions on how to get around that occurring and get the sync to complete?

Just as a trial I simply recycled my application pool and allowed everything to recycle.  Once I did this and went back to the File Manager the folders were gone.

 

So It would appear that if you are having issues with a timeout when attempting a resync after a mass user folder deletion if it continues to time out and indicate 'An Error Loding Content' you may want to simply try recycling your app pool and then return to see if it did in fact complete the sync properly.
