I have created a skin with 3 content panes. The first one works fine and I can edit the content:

 <div class="col-md-8">
    <div id="contentpane" runat="server"></div>
</div>

My second two content panes are rendered but are not editable, there is no edit content icon:

<div id="LeftBarPane" runat="server"></div>
<div id="RightBarPane" runat="server"></div>

 The HTML that is rendered in edit mode on the page is:

             <div class="DNNEmptyPane dnnSortable ui-sortable" id="dnn_LeftBarPane"></div>

Hi

Add a html module to your LeftBarPane/ RightBarPane and then check whether in page edit mode you can see the edit icon or not.

Thanks

Like Sibabrata said above, add an html module to the other panes and you will probably see the option to edit content. It sounds like an html module is being added to the contentpane by default and that's why you see the "edit" option but that's not happening in your other panes.

Michael,

I am quite sure the edit icon comes from the Text/HTML module that is added to the ContentPane when using the default template to create a page - there is no "Edit" for a pane, only for the module(s) placed inside the pane.

Try to create a new page without a template - you won't see an Edit icon in any pane of the page.

Happy DNNing!
Michael
