Well, I'd sometimes love to restrict editing capabilities from within my module.

I know a couple of developers, I don't want to provide with this option - for the sake of users and admins.

Hi Phillip,

I am very interested it is what I am looking to build with either your content and article modules or Ventrain, the reason is the multiview and multi lingual. This will reduce module count per page which currently stands between twelve to twenty two modules to create a DNN html content page, one of the main issues killing the application.

The current CKeditor does not work well because I think Ingo built it for his forum application which does not need styled html like the UI, part of the reason he does not want it used with the DNN Evoq content html module which btw comes with html agility dll.  I have checked the source of the current beta and he has added a new switch statement that can be used to add most of the elements of html5 document like Section which is more useful than a div.

I am not sure Joe can implement this feature because the aggressive monetization model he inherited sells standard features of Asp.net 4.5 WAP native bootstrap component model.

@Joe I hope you sort out issues like DNN maxlengthproperty which in Asp.net even in IIS 7.5 in Windows 7 can be adjusted to 2gig by default, drop all the core modules and make them optional because messaging and Journal alone adding more than 100 stored procedures without any page is not sustainable, access to the Base Class and connection closing because I think most shared connections maybe left open.  The user related features including profile needs rewrite because the database objects are not very good and really bloated.

Then there are the late binding dependent security features that have just stopped working, so many features so few working as expected is a problem.  But these for another thread.

Philipp thanks for a very good thread.

@Gift Peddie : I am looking for some developers who can help Ingo with getting the DNNCKEditor ready as default RTE in DNN 7.4 or 7.5. I found Phillip.

Can I put you on the list of being one of those community members?

The main task in the first round would be to sort and prioritize the 220 issues listed in CodePlex, so that it becomes a manageable list of issues.

 Hi Ernst,

I would love to but if I understand Phillip proposal most of those issues maybe redundant or none relevant because I think Ingo is restricting access to create html5 document while Phillip's plan is the opposite.   Then there are the Telerik controls related issues, how do you mitigate issues with custom controls that are not valid controls?

That leaves the configuration related issues and DNN version issues, I can go through all the issues and create a report for you.

@Gift Peddie: In the end it is Ingo's project, so he decides what the direction will be. People can fork his project to make their own version if they want to.

As for doing things: I am just recruiting for Ingo (I am interested for the best result for DNN Platform and I think DNNCKeditor is a far better solution than RadEditor). The best result for now would be if the issues on CodePlex are organized and prioritized. A report will help, but if your analysis could result into (changes of) the status of issues themselves, that would be great.

Do you have an userid on CodePlex?  If not: create one please? I can then inform Ingo that a helperclass is being formed...
