Hi

Using latest DNN 7.3.3 I have configured a clean install to test localization on a win7 PC.

It seems to work if I use the flags to switch language but I want the site to automatically change to French when the preferred browser language is set to French. This doesn't appear to work in any of the major browsers.

Am I doing something wrong?

Gus

As an example of a site that shows browser lang detection working go to this:

http://www.w3.org/Press/1998/CSS2-REC

Then in chrome try changing preferred language to Dutch, German or Japanese and then back to English.

I use the chrome extention "quick language switcher" which gives you an icon at the top right to switch between languages and refresh the page without having to go through the menu every time.

So why does it not work in DNN?  Am I the only one experiencing this?  Or does everyone else think it's fine a user should click a flag every time they visit the site?  Or is DNN using the machine locale or something instead?

I am re-visiting this post because I need this functionality to work.

Can anyone confirm if this works or not in the latest DNN 7.4?

thanks

Gus

Perhaps the answer is here?

https://dnntracker.atlassian.net/browse/DNN-6522

Well at least it demonstrates conclusively that this has never worked.

One commenter states that this i

We've waited years and years for this.  And finally it looks like it's been fixed for 7.4.1!

Do the DNN team think DNN is only ever used in the US?

There are known bugs in DNN 7.4.0 with localization and browser language detection, which should be fixed in 7.4.1 (and additional fixes in 7.4.2)
