In a custom module I am working on I have a gridview in place to show course sessions a user can click to get more details or edit if they were the creator.  I was wondering if anyone has any advice on best (or better) practice here.

I'm putting an edit link (image-pencil) in the last column, and checking on page load if the userID = createdbyid on each displayed record.  Recently I thought about the potential overhead of this versus doing the check on teh link to the details screen and supplying the link there.  My code to check is pretty light - but short of loading thousands of records to stress test - anyone see a great difference here?  It seems pretty obvious that one check vs. many would be quicker, but would that quicker be discernable to the user?

public bool IsOwner(int SessionOwnerId)

{if (SessionOwnerId == UserId)

{

return true;

}

else

{

return false;

}

}
