Windows 8.1:
MS-SQL 2012 Express is running properly on my desktop. WebMatrix 3 is functional without DNN on my desktop. My MS-SQL db data and logs are on H:\Devl-Ws\MS-SQL\data.

My remote hosted website is running DNN 7x with MS-SQL 2012

I want to get DNN, Webmatrix 3, and a database instance of MSSQL 2012 Express working with WebMatrix on my desktop so I can download my hosted website(s), work on them, and then upload the results.

So far The Webmatrix 3 installation is requiring MSSQL 2008 Express, and not considering where my databases or datafiles are located. After two days trying to piece the resources together I'm figuring its time to ask for help.

even if using sql express locally, you should use an attached database and will have same syntax on both.
You need to ensure, the windows account used by ASP.Net (as configured in advanced settings of the app pool) has dbowner permission for the database.
