I created a video a little while ago that explains how it works - It's free for registered users.

http://www.xd.com.au/downloads.xd?rrcid=40&rrscid=37&rreid=76&rrpid=1&rrepp=10

I would like to also point out some things that are not on the video and that is DO NOT USE the customeID (using child portal) and put in your own folder - I don't think it works like it should and you won't be able to upload any images through the editor and it does other things that I don't believe are ideal for working with. (just my thoughts on the matter)

This video should give you clear understanding on how it works.

Nina,

I have been using the custom ID since 3.x and it works great as long as you keep it as portals/customID. NO issues at all with anything.
