I  was not sure what to try.  My DB is hosted by my provider.

Am I suppose to ass them to make this change:  IF @CompatibilityLevel <= 100

Or do you think this bug will be fixed in 7.4.2?   I was just going to wait.

Is it still targeted for release July 29th?

James,
Replace <= by < in the upgrade script. If compatibility Level cannot be raised, you might be hosted on an outdated database Server; ask your Hosting Provider to move your DB on a more recent one, as Versions Prior to SQL Server 2008 are no longer supported by Microsoft and DNN.

Godaddy is crap for DNN. They have size limits for the SQL database. Maybe you have reached the 200MB limit and that's the problem..
Just rent a cheap VPS at 1and1.com and never have DB or permission issues again.

Hi Sebastian,

Thanks for the info.  I forwarded what you said to my provider and this is what he replied.

Your MSSQL database is running on SQL Server 2012, however it did have it's compatibility level set to 2008. I've just updated the compatibility level setting on your database to 2012.

Should I try now without making the change you suggested?  Or should I make the change to the script.

Just wondering so I do not have to restore if it screws up again.

Thanks again,

James

I would guess that your account does not have ALTER rights in the DB. However if your hosting provider has updated the compatibility level then that stored proc won't try to execute the alter. I'd expect it will just work now.

NEVER attempt an upgrade without a backup. There are too many ways it can go wrong.
