I wanted to look at site settings today and when I try to load the page I get the blow error.  I went as far as to reupload the entire last update and recycle the application pool, but no luck, same error.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I want to change registration settings and I'm not even sure I can without the site settings page.

please make sure, your Database Compatibility Level is 100 or above (in SQL Server Management Studio right click the database mode and select Properties. You will find Compatibility Level on tab Options. Set it to max. value available.
Note: SQL Server Versions before 2008 are no longer supported.

Thanks, since I hadn't changed this and its a 2012 server, it didn't occur to me. It appears that someone at the ISP did, however. I changed it back and everything is fine!

Robin,

if you created the database previous to SQL Server 2012 and added it to SQL Server 2012 (either by backup/restore or by detach/attach), it does not change the compatibility level automatically. You have to do that manually.

Best wishes
Michael
