Hi All,

I have recently installed DNN on Webmatrix. Wondering is there any tutorial on how to create your custom module on webmatrix-Dnn?

Is there a Template just like VS2010, or VS2013.

How would you create new module using Webmatrix?

Thanks,

Yogs

You should be able to use my templates there, you'll just need to edit the URL that the templates expect to be your webmatrix URL/port instead of DNNDEV.ME which my templates look for by default.

After creating the project, edit the Project Properties (or edit the CSProj file directly) to replace the DNNDEV.me references to your correct URL.

You'll likely also want the WebMatrix web server running when you try to do anything in Visual Studio with the templates.

FWIW if you are serious about getting into DNN module development - I would forget about webmatrix as such its more trouble than its worth most of the time.
Go thru the process of setting up and getting a website running and hosted on your local box using IIS and MS SQL - you will enjoy the experience so much more.
And you wont be fighting with the web matrix hosted server and its intendant problems.

+1 on the previous responses - me recommendation is to grab a copy of the free vs 2013 community edition - https://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/pr...

Buy the new Professional DNN7: Open Source .NET CMS Platform book Amazon US

Yes,

You guys are right. It's more hassle than it looks. just to try and get it up and running. It order to use Chris's module dev Template you have have VS2010 installed with the template.

by the way Is VS2013 Community edition free or 90days trial?I tried and it expired in 90days.

I thought DNN needs more "Dynamic Module tutorial" just like

This is great tutorial: http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/module-development

We need more of this.

 Thanks
