Hi. I have found the same problem. Actually I have developed for a client at least 10 personalized styles.

What I have done is to set up fckstyles.xml and fck_editorarea.css with the new styles. That way all the new styles are available in all portals. Of course you have to clean the new text before aply a different style.

No matter if the background of your portal is dark or light. IF you don´t specyfy font colour in the new styles it takes the default font color defined in the skin.css of your skin.

I hope that works for you too.
