We currently have DNN 7 installed on our system. We would like to link word docs etc. on our Intranet but we're coming across some issues.

On our old Intranet, we used a much older version of DNN and to link a document, we could go into the Edit Documents option and in Link put something in the syntax file://\\server\folder\stuff.doc and it would allow us to link files that were outside of the DNN Portals folders. However, when we try this with DNN 7, using that syntax does not work and clicking the link does nothing.

I have also tried: file://server/folder/stuff.doc and also put the file path in the browser. The path does work as entering it into Chrome downloads the file, using the path format file://server/folder/stuff.doc

I do not want to put the files in the Portal directory as these files get updated frequently on one of our other servers.

you would need a UNC folder provider as included with Evoq products or available from Evotiva in DNN store.
