  Hi, I am trying to create a portal in Dotnetnuke, and once I fill in the the information at the create portal page (it doesn't matter whether I select child or parent, I get the same error) and then select   I get the following message

Configuration Error

Parser Error Message: Could not load file or assembly 'DotNetNuke.HttpModules.UrlRewrite' or one of it's dependencies.  The system cannot find the file specified. (C:\DotNetNuke\Website\web.config line 48)

Line 46:     <httpModules>
Line 47:       <!-- add name="Authentication" type="DotNetNuke.HttpModules.AuthenticationModule, DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Authentication" / -->
Line 48:       <add name="UrlRewrite" type="DotNetNuke.HttpModules.UrlRewriteModule, DotNetNuke.HttpModules.UrlRewrite" />
Line 49:       <add name="Exception" type="DotNetNuke.HttpModules.ExceptionModule, DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Exception" />
Line 50:       <add name="UsersOnline" type="DotNetNuke.HttpModules.UsersOnlineModule, DotNetNuke.HttpModules.UsersOnline" />

Any help would be greately appreciated.  This has been bugging me for a couple days, and I am completely confused.

Is this the only trouble you're having with your installation?  If you're not running the latest DNN version, I'd upgrade; that might solve the problem.  If you are running the latest version, if you're able to wait till the next release I'd do that.  Otherwise I'd probably copy all the original install or upgrade files again on top of the version you're currently using (on a testing copy of the installation, and after creating a new backup, of course).  It could also be related to some of the asp.net settings but I'd try the above first.

Ok, I reinstalled the newest version, and I am still getting the same error when I try to create a portal through online method.  I tried using the portals.resources method as well, and am still getting an error.  I am getting the following after it begins to create the site

00:00:00:020 - Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I could be missing something so simple that I'm just overlooking it, but any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Try adding the ASPNET user account with Full Permissions to the DotNetNuke folder.

Let us know if this worked for you

    Already had that done as well...but...I did manage to solve my problem.  I had given up on getting it to work after updating and re-installing over the old install.  So my plan was just to do a seperate install for each portal.  I created a different install for a seperate site...and on a whim, decided  to see if it would work there, and it did.  Apparently something was corrupt with the other install, and updates and installing over it wasn't fixing it.

Oh well...just means I probably did something wrong the first time.
