Thing is, changing the user in the web.config to my local SA doesn't do the trick, either.  I have a test page set up referring the web.config connection with either user and it works fine.

I didn't run that script, never have before; I added the user from the production site to my local server as a sysadmin and can log in and work using it; the site just won't use it, but it is worth a try.  Will do it when I get home.

Thanks for looking.

JoAnn,
it sounds line an issue in the connection string or with user mapping (SQL Server user to database user).
if you restore a database, you need to perform the mapping to continue to be able to use same SQL Server login.

Cheers from Germany,

Ready for the real problem?  The services stopped.  I started them and all is happy again!

Thanks!
