Hi folks,

Although this apparently was supposed to be remedied in DNN 7+, and my favicon is located within the root folder, PDFS that are opened in a browser from our site are still appearing with the default favicon.

Is there anyway around this? Lame man's terms would be appreciated...

Do you have the favicon set within the admin -> site settings -> basic settings -> appearance section?

I am not sure but it may be that DNN is not aware of the favicon file even though you have it in the proper directory.

I have basic anchor tag links in HTML modules to PDF files and when they open in Chrome they show the favicon that I set in Admin Site Settings...

Would you mind giving me an example of this?  I can't wrap my head around how an anchor tag would function with a PDF file instead of referencing a webpage.

I have admin->site settings ->basic settings -> appearance hooked up with my favicon, and it functions correctly on all pages except those that are just PDF files.

Here is an example of html to generate a link to a PDF file...(of course your files will be somewhere else)

I place this type of  a link using the html view of the html editor within an HTML Module and the browser will open the file and display the favicon that is in the portal root directory and specified in the site settings.

direct links to files are displayed by IIS (bypassing DNN) and will use favicon.ico, placed in the root of the IIS website
