I love DNN and use it whenever I can... But, I regularly am working in a few tabs at once. When I do, it routinely happens that I'll be editing the content in an HTML module, click update, only to have the popup close and the page go back to view mode without saving the change! I now try to just copy everything before hitting save in case the page has moved out of edit mode.

Of course, this also annoys the daylights out of my other users and team members. Anybody know some magical solution that makes the HTML module better handle that?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,

this never happened to me. How much time passes between starting editing and kitting the Save button?

Maybe something is wrong with your cookies. Have you tried deleting them?

You could also try checking the "Stay in Edit Mode" checkbox. Does that help?

Happy DNNing!
Michael

AFAIK, Sasha Trauwaen tried to improve behavior of HTML module, but I am not sure atm, wether his improvements made it into7.4.1 or will be included in 7.4.2, you might check yourself on http://support.dnnsoftware.com

Thanks guys...

Michael, I think its a standard behavior. I've had it happen on numerous sites with different users. Basically, I think DNN sees whether you're in edit mode from the last page you were on, then, when the HTML module goes to update, it won't do it unless you're in edit mode. Sometimes, you get this weird middle step where it shows you a popup with just the content, but not an editor, but it won't save when that happens.

Using "Stay in Edit Mode" does help, but it shouldn't be needed by the platform. I think this is really just an issue with the HTML module probably doing a check to make sure the page is in edit mode before it will update or something.

I'm running 7.4.1... But, that's great to hear somebody worked on some updates for it - I'll hope this gets fixed up in 7.4.2, that'd be awesome.

Mike
