I use the reports module frequently. And I also use url querystring parameters to communicate with the report SQL the parameters it needs. I have noticed that the report modules appear to be generating error reports in the DNN Event Viewer even when the report has not been viewed. For example, right now, I'm running a DNN instance on my laptop and am not viewing a page with the report module on it in any browser tab. I can clear the event viewer, wait a minute and refresh the Event Viewer and see multiple error messages that basically say the report was expecting a variable that it was not given. I'll paste an error below. My question is, why are there report module errors being generated when the report is not even being viewed or refreshed?

this seem to be caused by the seach indexer, you may stop the Event showing up by disabling search indexing in Module Definition or Module Settings.

Thank you Sebastian, I'll give it a try. Your help here was meaningful.

As an additional next step, I think I'll investigate the settings in the Event Viewer now to stop reporting this error in the first place. I would prefer that the reports would be indexed. Their stored procedures gracefully handle null values for the input parameters and a fair amount of content is in those reports.

Unfortunately, neither approach has helped. I disabled indexing on all reports modules in the site but the Event Viewer is still generating new error reports about the missing report parameters.

Additionally, It appears that these errors are controlled by the "General Exception" setting in the Event Viewer settings. And I don't think I want to disable that one.

I might need to ignore the Event Viewer for this particular error. Problem is, there are a lot of reports modules. I'm getting about 50-60 errors per hour in the Event Viewer with no users hitting the site. When the users and the search engines start going through the site, I'm concerned these errors will multiply many times over.

What version of DNNReports are you using?

What version of DNN?

Can you show the SQL statement that it is trying to process?
