I am having the hardest time getting FontAwesome (GitHub Icon set) to work with this Popular V2 template I have purchased.

It's supposed to be integrated with the template itself but it's simply not working so I tried to just get it working myself.

  • I went over to Font Awesome (http://fortawesome.github.io/Font-Awesome/) and downloaded the package. (Font Awesome 4.4.0 package)
  • Extracted it and put it in my skins>Popular>css
  • linked it in a file called "AddScripts.aspx"

    <link rel="stylesheet" href="../css/font-awesome/css/font-awesome.min.css">
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="../css/font-awesome/css/font-awesome.css">

  • and finally added into a header I've edited.

<div id="topsocialicons">
<span class="fa-facebook"></span> <span class="fa-twitter"></span> <span class="fa-linkedin"></span>
</div>

I'm not getting any errors in my console. (Firefox)

I'm also trying to add a font using @font-face and that's not working. But that's a whole other can of worms.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

Save yourself the drama and just use the CDN link.. the first method on the page:
http://fortawesome.github.io/Font-Awe...

You can put that at the top of your skin.
Rob

But it sounds like you might have some other issue if that skin's one doesn't work and then your own doesn't work.. if the method above doesn't work either then there must some other issue.

You will need to add .woff2 font/x-woff2 to the mime types in IIS: https://github.com/FortAwesome/Font-A... Hope this helped.

I added .woff2 to the MIME types. Still nothing.

I tried using another custom font using @font-face and it simply wouldn't take either.
I'm at a loss, it's not letting me use any sort of custom font.

I think next I'm going to test and see if a google font works.

you need to add the mime type only, if delivering the font files from your server, preferably you should link to the CDN download address.
You need to add the link in your skin file, there is no other aspx file needed - unless for testing.
