Hi,

why does the Localization described in 'Localization Guide for DotNetNuke Modules' does not work if a module is allowed for 'All Users' and the user does not login ? The defined label does not appear.

Only after DNN-Login the Localization works an i see the label text....

Thx for any information

Regards,

Holger

Hi Holger,

please be more specific and notice also, that there is a special treatment for logged out users, to retrieve their appropriate language.

For unauthorized user's the localization is using the Portal's default language.
This can be set in the Portal settings.

If you have more than two languages active in the portal, unauthorized users should be able to switch between them through the language skin object .

I have 2 languages installed (English and German). The unauthorized user is able to switch between them, but the specified lable text is not shown. After activating the ShowMissingKey feature i got RESX:lblPath.Text: This means that the key is missing, but it is there !!! Cause after logon i see the label and if i switch between the languages the lables are shown in english or german.....

So something seems to be wrong if the user does not logon. DNN can not retrieve the key from the .resx files.

Geert, this is not entirely true.

For unauthenticated users, the preferred browser language is most important. All prefferred languages are looped through, the first one that matches an enabled language in the portal will be selected as locale for that user for that instance. The selected language will be set in a cookie, so next time the cookie value is used.

Also, i would say that with more than ONE language enabled for the portal, users should be able to switch between them...

cheers,

Erik
